QUALITY SINCE 1954
Oskar's Family Barbershop has been a cherished part of Charleston and the Lowcountry. Originally founded by Herman A. Spalviero, it was named Herman's Barbershop and proudly counted itself among the first tenants of the iconic South Windermere Shopping Center, developed by local attorney William "Bill" Ackerman.
Today, we continue to thrive in the very location where Herman opened the doors in 1954. As the longest continually operating barbershop in both Charleston and South Carolina, we honor our history by still using two of the original Koken barber chairs in the front of the shop.
In 1981, Herman entrusted the legacy to Oskar Hirsch, who gave the shop its present name, 'Oskar's.' After almost three decades of dedicated service, Mr. Hirsch passed the torch to one of his barbers, Katana Truluck, in 2010.
2022 marked a new chapter with Katye Rhett Fayard becoming the fourth owner. With a commitment to preserving the tradition of quality and service, Katye and her family warmly invite you to Oskar's Family Barbershop, Charleston's premier grooming destination. Stop by - walk-ins are always welcome.
